According to the earliest recorded history, the first person to introduce baseball and its accompanying product baseball caps into China was Chinese engineer Zhan Tianyou. At that time, he was studying at Yale University in the United States (1877-1881). Influenced by American baseball players, he spontaneously organized a Chinese baseball team under his call. So baseball is popular among Chinese people. Afterwards, overseas Chinese and students returning from the United States and Japan brought baseball back to their homeland. In 1895, a baseball team was established at Huiwen Academy in Beijing.

In 1907, Beijing Huiwen Academy held a competition against Tongzhou Union Academy. This is the earliest baseball game in China. The Far East Games, initiated by China, Japan, and the Philippines in 1913, have had baseball matches throughout history, and China has sent representative teams to participate multiple times. Before the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the Chinese Games also had baseball games, with most participants being students. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Eighth Route Army played baseball in anti Japanese base areas such as northern Shaanxi and Shanxi Chahar Hebei. But at that time, baseball was only a rare sport, and not all athletes wore baseball caps. Due to limited conditions, it was even more impossible for it to be popularized among the masses.

In 1952, there was a baseball game in the first PLA Games. In 1959, baseball was listed as an official competition event at the first National Games, with 23 provincial and municipal teams participating, and the Beijing team won the championship. In 1975, at the third National Games, baseball matches were held in the preliminary and final rounds at both the University of Hong Kong and Beijing, with Tianjin team ranking first. At the Fourth National Games in 1979, teams from 14 provinces and cities participated in the baseball competition, with the champion being the Beijing team. In September 1975, the Aichi University baseball team from Japan visited China for a game, marking the beginning of international baseball exchanges in China. In August 1976, the baseball team from Masamune University in Japan visited. The Chinese Baseball and Softball Association was established in 1979, and branches were also established in various provinces and cities. The baseball cap factory introduced that at this time, baseball players truly wore baseball caps, which symbolized the sport of baseball. From then on, baseball caps also penetrated into the lives of Chinese people, and everyone had the right to wear a baseball cap. Ordinary people also wore baseball caps, and baseball caps were made into different styles.
